Hi,
The discussion keeps coming up in our ortho practice as to how many times 20680 can be billed. The doctors have documentation that states 4 separate incisions were made but it is to remove screws from a one bone fracture for example. They write 20680 X 4 on the surgery ticket for the 4 separate incisions. I have spoken with other coders and they said they thought we could not base the number of times to bill based on the number of incisions but could bill multiple times if different incisions were made for removal from different bones or sites. Could you please give me written resources to view and print out to show our doctors as to how to bill 20680 when multiple incisions are made. Thanks for your help and time.
