Can anyone assist with helping me pick a code for this procedure? Below is the documentation that the provider made and the ICD-10 used is, L72.0: Epidermal cyst. It was not sent for pathology, she didn't drain it, and only a part of the membrane was removed.
Cyst Removal: Site(s): Medications & allergies reviewed and no contraindications to procedure are identified; informed consent explained to and signed by patient. The site is cleansed with chlorhexidine and alcohol swabs. A 3ml syringe was used to draw 2 ml of lidocaine with Epinephrne 1%. 2 mL was used in a clock wheel fashion to anesthetize the site. A 4 mm vertical incision was made at the punctate with an 11 blade to the mid-upper right thoracic back. A pair of mosquito forceps were then used to loosen and evacuate the contents and partially remove the cystic capsule. Closure: Steri-strip and tincture of benzoin. Wound care: The site was cleansed and dressed with steri strip and telfa/gauze as it was not filled/inflamed when removed. Pt was counseled regarding aftercare and follow-up. Pt understood and agreed with treatment plan.
2. Epidermoid cyst -
Removed a portion of cell membrane. Pt tolerated procedure well. Use topical petrolatum to support good healing of incision site.
