I work with a provider who often sees patient with recurrent UTIs. They usually have had a UTI on and off for the last 6 months, but come into the clinic and their urinalysis is negative for blood or infection. They are encouraged to take certain medications for UTI prevention. The provider lists the diagnosis as Recurrent UTI. What ICD-10 code would you use? N39.0 or Z87.440?

Tnadauld95,
Use the N39 as first dx code, per ICD10 manual states add dx B97.89 dx if just some cause irriation. If lab result list specific bacterial infection add that dx code too...see dx B95-B97 blocks. Then list dx Z87.440 as last dx code not first
I hope helped you
