I really need some help in understanding staged closure, reconstruction of flaps w\ undermining to obtain a full thickness flap to allow for better advancement to closure with derotation.
The code I would like to use is 14040. I get confused b\c he usually does this on ulcers, or after toe amputation. The code books states that this code does not apply when when direct closure or rearragment incidentally results in these configurations. So if he is closing and sometimes states "staged closure" but no other procedures have been preformed but the current one its not related to any other but the current procedure, not to mention the fact that he will state that its 50% closed, so its left open, then I almost think I should use 13131....again clueless!
