Need some help with the following. The wording of "FUSION" is confusing me. Is the SPECT coded separately from the CT or is it just one code? Please see below.

TIA

After interpretation of the CT of the cervical spine without contrast, SPECT
fusion images were created.
Axial CT images of the cervical spine were correlated with color coded SPECT
images which were fused. There appears to be physiologic radiotracer uptake
within the osseous structures of the cervical spine. No abnormal radiotracer
accumulation in the anterior, middle, or posterior columns of the cervical
spine is appreciated on the fusion images.

Fused SPECT & CT

Hello -

I work in a Nuclear Imaging (PET and Nuclear studies), and quite frequently, we fuse a SPECT to a non-con-CT, but I am really stuck as to how to bill. The CT is not interpreted separately, so I have a bad feeling about billing both codes, but we use 2 separate scanners/cameras, and a 3rd technology for fusing.

If you get an answer, please let me know what you find and I will do the same for you.

Thanks -
