What cpt would we use for the carbon tattoo ink injection in the following scenario. Please note, in this case, the hydromark clip was placed on a separate day and charged separately but we do have cases where both the clip placement and the tattoo ink injection are done at the same time. So if you could please address both scenarios.
Ultrasound guided left axillary node carbon tattoo localization:
The patient's left axilla was positioned and images of the
abnormal node with hydromark clip along the superior aspect were
obtained. The breast was prepped for the procedure and the area
was anesthetized with 1% lidocaine buffered with sodium
bicarbonate. Under ultrasound guidance 0.5 cc carbon tattoo ink
was inject into the abnormal node, and another 0.5 cc along the
superficial aspect and lateral aspects of the node. The patient
experienced no complications during the procedure.
