Not sure where to post this question. I am wondering if we can bill a placement of a paste boot 29580 along with an E & M code, or is the 29580 billable at all. Can anyone help me with this. Cigna is ins. Thanks !
For a doctor's office or outpatient, the Unna Boot is usually billable (unless the patient is Medicare and residing in a skilled nursing facility.) Not sure about the E/M. It would have to be separately identifiable for the 25 mod.
You can code the E & M with a 25 modifier on the first visit (when decision to apply the Unna Boot is made). Usually the patients comes back once a week for Unna Boot change and you can only charge the 29580 unless the physician see's the patient for a different diagnosis. I hope this helps.
