Wiki Pulmonary Edema Developed Intra-Operatively - Complication Dx?

Hello Everyone, I just had a quick question.

The doctor was performing bilateral endoscopic carpal tunnel releases when they noticed that the patient had developed negative pressure pulmonary edema intraoperatively. How would I code this complication?

Did it stop the operation? Was one side done and not the other? Even though this happened, was the surgeon able to complete both procedures?

The surgeon was able to complete both procedures. The pt received care for the edema afterward.

If both procedures were completed and the patient was treated for the edema afterwards, I don't see this as a "complication" to this procedure.

That makes sense, but I'm still a little hesitant. Would I need to mention the edema at all in the dx?
