I have never coded this before and don't know what to code. Can someone help me with this? Thanks. Lisa

Procedure Type:
Lower Extremity Angiogram Lt
Intervention: PTA

Peripheral procedure description:
Retrograde poplital approach. RLE angiogram, Rt femoral to lt graft angiogram, PTA of the proximal and distal graft. Used heparin and loaded with 300mg of Plavix. Manual hemostatis.
Proximal anstomosis 90% and Distal 70%.
Post intervention Proximal 40%, Distal 10%.

Procedure Summary:
Dual antiplatelet therapy.
Consider open repair in the months ahead.

This is all I have. What do I need to tell the physician to dictate? I am fairly new in this and I don't have a clue what to say as to what I need.

All I would code based on this is 37224, revascularization of the femoral/popliteal artery. There is no interpretation of the angiography, and if there was it still may not be appropriate to bill, it must be truely diagnostic (condition was previously unknown).

HTH :)
