Good morning folks...
My surgeon performed transurethral resection of 4cm bladder tumor - easy enough....52235
He then documented "with prostatic stromal invasion" and he "resected a separate portion of abnormal appearing prostatic tissue and sent this as a separate specimen"
Pathology results: prostate, transurethral resection - involved by high grade urothelial carcinoma.
My questions: should I code this as TURP with reduced modifier 525601-52 along with 52235? Or does the prostatic stroma bundle into the bladder tumor?
Do I code the invasion as prostate mets, prostate ca, or the bladder ca?
I was taught not to code prostate resection with bladder ca...but that just doesn't feel right in this case and would appreciate other opinions.
Thanks in advance.
