Patient has chronic osteomyelitis and surgeon is placing a PROSTALAC...my question is, without having to remove a prosthesis, which CPT would I use? I cannot use the 27091 as that involves removal of prosthesis.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

I haven't seen this before, but I'm assuming the surgeon basically did a regular hip replacement but instead of the permanent prosthesis used the PROSTALAC? If that is the case, I'd code it as a regular hip replacement as that was the work done even if it will be staged. If that isn't the case, please provide notes. I hope that helps!
