We have PAs that are spending a great deal of time reviewing charts, ordering tests, coordinating care for line placements. They are not scheduling EM visits to do this, the goal is to avoid having to bring the patients in unnecessarily. The PAs are wondering if they are able to get paid for these services. I understand that prolonged services 99358 is for the first hour, doesn't have to be on the same day as the face to face visit. Can the face-to-face visit apply to a procedure? Can the PAs bill 99358 even though the related visit will be the procedure itself? I am being told both ways and need some clarification. Thank you for your help!
