I'm a newer coder in an Orthopaedic office and we've been getting denials when billing the Procrit injections because of the dx codes I was told to use. Can anyone tell me what dx codes you use for 96372 and J0885? Thank you!

Wiki Procrit Injections prior to Total Joint Replacement

It is a prophylactic injection you will need a V code for thus.

V codes are what is getting denied. V07.8 Other specified prophylactic or treatment measure. Any idea on why the insurance companies don't like this code?

Have you checked their policies? Many insurance companies only cover Procrit for specific indications and will list covered and non-covered uses in their clinical or reimbursement policies.
