Urgent Care setting, patient comes in with a laceration or abcess. Physician does an exam (very brief) and a suture technician does the actual repair or I&D procedure. Note states that the procedure was supervised by the physician or states that the physician checked the site after the procedure was done. This is Ohio Medicaid which requires split billing of the facility and professional charges for Urgent Care billing. Question is whether the procedure should be considered professional service or not since the physician is only supervising or checking the work?
