Hi Everyone,

one of our docs (urology practice) did an excision of perimeatal cyst.
Op note says history of a painful perimeatal cystic lesion just the the left of the urethral meatus , this was excised w a scissors under general anesthesia.
Path report returned peri-meatal cyst benign
Any thoughts, ideas as to how to code this (cpt & icd9)
Thanks,Rebecca

I would use either 1142x - Excision, benign lesion including margins, except skin tag (unless listed elsewhere), scalp, neck, hands, feet, genitalia;
The 5th digit of the code is going to depend on the size of the cyst that was excised.

OR

54060 - Destruction of lesion(s), penis (eg, condyloma, papilloma, molluscum contagiosum, herpetic vesicle), simple; surgical excision

I second the 11420-6. It's important to document the size.

The 54060 is for the penis (external)

ICD9 - 599.84
