As I understand G0009 code description only indicates use for Pneumococcal vaccine. This code does not define conjugate verses polysaccharide. I'm wondering if it is acceptable to use the G0009 for either vaccine. I wouldn't think so understanding the cost of the vaccines are very different.
I have used the CPT 90670 across the board for pediatric and Medicare patients with appropriate admin code of course Just wondering if there was a HCPCS that defined better the difference for Medicare recipient?
Thank you in advance
Cheri

For the administration code for the Pneumo Vaccine for Medicare patients, the G0009 is appropriate for both types. For the two types of pneumo vaccines make sure you are using the correct CPT Code:

90670 Pneumo conjugate vaccine 13 valent
90732 Pneumo polysaccharide vaccine 23 valent
