Wiki Pre-op X-ray of entire leg

I have a physician who is wanting an x-ray AP and Lateral of the entire leg before a knee replacement. How do you all code for that? Code for each area? Exp... hip, femur, knee, lower leg, and ankle or is there a specific x-ray code that includes them all?

No single code. I believe you're going to be fighting for reimbursement unless he has a really, really good reason why he needs to xray everything.

Totally agree with Sharon on this. Something else to keep in mind is that a complete set of X-rays would have been done to diagnosis the patients medical condition. And these should be on file. Unless there is medical necessity for the entire leg to have X-rays, they won't be paid.
