Wiki Pre op visits

My doc are documenting pt is presenting to the office for a pre op visit and heading over to the hosp for pre admissions. We are billing the appropiate E/M typically 99212 however, the dx billed is the reason for sx (i.e. 715.95). It is my understanding we should be billing the E/M with a dx of
V72.83. Can someone provide me with some understanding? Thanks!

My understanding is if your doc is doing surgery on them and it was already determined before this pre-op visit, you cant charge for the pre-op. It's part of the global package.

That is my understanding is well. We bill a no charge for pre-op visits with a dx of V72.84.
