Hi everyone,
I have a few providers within my practice that do per-operative exams and bill them as consultations. These patients are established patients to them who are coming for a consult from the surgeon for clearance for surgery. I am having trouble understanding why this is a consult because the provider is their primary care physician, so wouldn't this be a normal office visit? (99202-99212). If anyone has any insight to this I would be really appreciative. I need to explain to the provider why this is/is not a consult.
Thank you,
Carolyn
