what diagnosis code do you use for pre-meds used to prevent side effects of chemotherapy..Example atropine to prevent diarrhea when a patient is receiving Camptosar(because camptosar causes diarrhea) ...would you code it as 787.91? Even though the patient doesn't actually have diarrhea, it is a preventative.

you cannot use a dx code for a condition the patient does not currently have. you will need to use the neoplasm dx code with the V code for Antineoplastic administration first listed

V58.11 is sufficient for most of the support drugs you need to use.
