I think this has been asked before, but I cannot find a current thread. I have told my doctors they cannot bill for a pre colo office visit when the patient is just there for a screening colo, no other symptoms. The doctors do take a thorough history, past history, talk about the colo etc., but they are just basically listing meds, and not really evaluating or managing anything and also state they are not legally allowed to do a procedure without first getting informed consent ahead of time from the patient and the doctors are complaining about how taking away the payment for this office visit is unfair. I have tried to explain that they do get paid, it is part of the colonoscopy, but just checking to see if maybe I am wrong? Also would there be any way to bill for a preventative CPT for these visits?
