I am not an idiot I think. But I am getting a lot of the diagnosis wrong.

For example I coded N92.1 for menorrhagia with irregular cycle. based on ""she reports have 2 to 3 periods a month" Practicode has N92.0 (Excessive and frequent menstruation with regular cycle). Why

This is a 33-year-old female with menorrhagia, dyspareunia, secondary dysmenorrhea, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding."
Practicode has N93.8 (Other specified abnormal uterine and vaginal bleeding) as the primary dx.

Are you using the Alphabetic Index?

In the alphabetic index, Menorrhagia is N92.0

Forgot to add that after you use the alphabetic index, then you verify in the tabular list.

N92.0 is Menorrhagia NOS, which confirms from the Alphabetic Index that N92.0 is the correct code.

This is also in the Alphabetic Index:

Bleeding > uterus, uterine > dysfunctional or functional N93.8

This would then be confirmed in the tabular list:

thank you.

What are your thoughts concerning coding N93.8 when there are other dx on the chart?
