We are having problems coding bone in a box when doing spinal fusions. Is there a HCPCS code for the actual bone product and if there is do you know what that is?
 
If it is allograft bone, then either 20930 or 20931 applies depending on whether it is crushed bone or struts. If it is a cage or intervertebral body spacer, then it is 22851. The actual charge for allograft bone is charged by facility since it is from their stock. Orthopods can only charge for the placing of the graft in the OP site not for the product itself.
