Hoping someone can help us out with this. If a patient had a SVD of an infant at 17 wks (that was dead ) it is 632 for missed abortion.

but when this patient come in for her 6wk post partum check up what dx code would you assign? Do you use 632 again? I read 632 as being a "current" Dx code, not weeks later.
 
As the patient has spontaneous vaginal delivery at 17 wks and though the baby is alive or dead it is same to labor and preterm delivery, obviously the follow-up visit will be the postpartum check and we must append v24.0

Are you sure the dx code is 632? That is a missed ab which is an intrauterine fetal death. A spontaneous delivery of a non viable fetus is a 634 code with a fifth digit for where it was complete or incomplete. If the fetus was viable and a spontaneous delivery resulted in the death of the fetus after delivery then this is an early delivery of alive baby. Then postpartum is the V24.0
