My doc did surgery on pt rt foot.

Pt was admitted to hospital during global for "mental issues".

During inpt stay- hospital asked my doc to check on pt foot, which is in global.

Would you bill consult or is it post op visit?

I would say this is post op - but - I am being argued with (shocker)

Thanks for any opinions!
 
This is considered a post op visit, your doc did the sx even though he is being asked to follow up in a different facility, pt is still his pt...
 
You are correct. No matter where the patient is and he gets a consult to see his/her patient it is still consider for post op. Let them know if you charge a consult, that is a red flag to the insurance company.
