Wiki Portable ultrasound billing for Orthopaedics

Hi - I work for a group of Orthopaedic Surgeons and I am wondering ... does anyone have any experience billing for a portable ultrasound?

Doc's are wondering about buying a portable, hand-held ultrasound for diagnosing rotator cuff tears, etc.

Is this something billable for orthopaedics?

Any help will be appreciated.

Our practice recently purchased a portable ultrasound machine and we are billing 76880 (Ultrasound, extremity, nonvascular, real time with image documentation). Hope this helps!
