I have a patient who has a port and the site has been debrided by our Radiologist. What CPT is best to use? No obvious signs of infection, nor evidence of fevers at home. However, there was dehiscence at the wound overlying the port catheter. Using sterile technique and local anesthetic with 1% Xylocaine, a scalpel blade was used to debride the edges. The prior sutures were removed. New 4-0 Ethilon subcutaneous sutures were placed, reapproximated the skin edges at the debridement margin. Dermabond was used for cutaneous approximation. Steri-Strips were placed. No problem with the port, just the area around the site.
