Would love for someone to explain the whole POA Indicators concept as I'm just not getting it. Confused on even how it should be noted ... please help

POA indicators are used for inpatient/facility coding only. If a patient presents with Pneumonia and during their stay develops a UTI, the Pneumonia would get a POA of Y (yes) and UTI of N (No) since the UTI was not present on admission, it developed after patient was admitted.

Thanks for the explanation ... but how would it be coded? Would it be 486-Y, 599.0-N ... that's the part I'm unsure of.
