Can I report CPT J2001, injection, lidocaine HCL for intravenous infusion, 10mg, seperately when our surgeon is administering joint or spine injections (e.g. CPT 20610 or 62310)? We keep getting denials and according to CCI we can report separately. I have a feeling I'm wrong about this. I'm new at pain management billing so any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

no the lidocain J code is for IV admin only neither code you are using indicates IV route. You may bill other drugs just not the lidocain
