Physician performing total hip arthroplasty, as the final acetabular component is being positioned a posterior column acetabular fracture was developed. Can the physician charge for acetabular fracture repair. If no , please advise where i can find this in writing.

If the fracture occured during the course of replacing the hip, then it would be part of the replacement. I have a couple of docs that cut the rotator cuff tendons during an operation and then want to bill to repair the tendon. If the doc cut it, or broke it, the phsyician needs to repair it. I wished that I could give you a written referrence, but I can't so I hope this helps.
