My doctor is looking into being able to bill for an Ankle Brachial Index test. We are family practice and I was just wondering if anyone knows if we can legally provide and bill for this procedure in this specialty. Also, if anyone knows any links to this information, or information on documentation requirements for this procedure code that would be great!

Hi,

I researched this once a year or so ago, and what I remember that the ABI is only a part of 93922. Take a look at the Medicine section, Noninvasive Vascular Diagnostic Studies section, the first, second and fourth paragraphs. If the ABI is all that is being done, I don't think it is enough to code 93922. I will look for the document I read over the weekend, and reply again if I find it!
