So the MD removed the THA and placed antibiotic beads--Code 27091 then stated that he would return to the operating room in a few days and place the hip articulating antibiotic spacer. Three days later brought the patient back to the operating room and placed a hip articulating antibiotic spacer. They also encountered a moderate sized hematoma that needed to be evacuated. They removed the antibiotic beads and placed the spacer. Would you just code the 11983 with the 58 modifier and then would you also code the removal of the hematoma--26990?? Please help.
