Hello Everyone,

Need clarification on POS for telehealth services. For example physician office in Texas state, internal medicine audio-video telehealth service, do we use POS as 11 or 02 ?

It depends on the insurance. Check their websites; most insurances have coding guidance for covid.

At my outpt. clinic bills for telephone or video visits using 99441 to 99443. The providers must verify patient demographic info, define at type is it a phone or video call, add minutes talk to patient in record, expand on patient's HPI and reason for phone call. Add PMH, and what pt. tells them over the phone and recommendations. We add modifier 95 if video and no modifier if regular phone call. If therapist or nurses do the phone calls use the CPT 98986 .But need to check with payers. Also use Z71.89 as last dx code. Oh yes , first the nurse gets patient on phone and verify all info it is noted in record, then call given to docs for noting HPI and reviewing meds, symptoms, ongoing dx ETC.
