Wiki Place of service for pathology

My physician office just hired a new pathologist. What would the place of service be? Office(11??- where the slides are being viewed), surg center(22??-where biopsies being taken) or 81(lab-however its NOT independent of the office)??

I have the same question. I have been billing 11 office, but just have come across an issue with a payer saying we should be using the ASC, POS 24, where the specimen was taken. Did you ever find an answer??
