I work for an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in the foot and ankle. When he does hammertoe corrections, he sometimes leaves a pin in the toe that protrudes outside the skin. He removes this in the office 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. This is planned, so would you bill this 20670-58 or is this inclusive to the surgery?

Thanks

I found my answer in Orthopedic Coder's Pink Sheet. I did not think this was billable but I didnt want to do the research. I was looking for someone to tell me. When the pin or wire is protruding outside the skin you can not bill for it, it is considered inclusive. Thanks for any input.
