I'm hoping someone can help me find the guideline for this scenario. I have a physician group billing question. One doctor orders the test, a 2nd doctor is the supervising physician and a third doctor reads the test. They have been billing under the supervising physician's NPI. They have asked me if they are allowed to bill under the third doctor's (who read the test) NPI. I believe they must bill under the supervising physician's NPI but I am looking for that back-up to provide to them. Can anyone direct me? Thank you!
