Are there any dermatology practices getting set up as a "NON-Pharmacy Dispensing Site"? The rep that is telling me about this states that the Lidocaine or numbing agent can be billed directly to the pt's pharmacy benefits and the practice will get some additional reimbursement for this.
Maybe this is a "new" thing, but it is my thought that the numbing agent injected for the skin biopsy or the excision is included in the surgical payment. But what this program is telling me is that this injectable "kit" is billed under the pt's pharmacy benefit and NOT on our Medical claim.
Any input would be awesome if anyone is currently doing this or has experience in this situation.
Thank you!
