I wanted to know when coding physical therapy for more than one body part on the same day with different
diagnosis codes how to stop the insurance company from a denial as a duplicate. When you electronic without notes the insurance companies do not seem to look at the diagnosis code and deny as duplicate even on two separate claims.

Physical Therapy Coding.

When you receive the denial, you have to appeal it with supporting documentation. Highlight the information on the progress note and the diagnosis code you want the insurance company to reconsider. In box 19 on the HCFA 1500, write "not a duplicate claim, an appeal".
