My surgeon did bipolar hemiarthroplasty for fem neck fx. Then, a week later, patient falls and sustains a femur fracture which loosened her prosthetic. He fixes the femur fracture and cements in a new hemi stem. How should I code? Seems to me the fracture repair is separate because the op report states "Reduction of the fracture was quite difficult and required assistance w/ cables beneath the vastus and around the femur to assis in anatomic reduction of her fx and recreation of her femoral canal."
