Hi -

I can not find an actual code for what my doctor wants to do. He wants to do a Percutaneous resection of renal pelvis tumor. (patient has solitary kidney, biopsy already done on tumor) I have queried him for addtional information, because the only resection code I find is via cysto. The other option is ablation codes. It's VA, so using the unlisted code has a snowballs' chance of getting paid.

Does anyone see anything I'm missing?

Thanks!!

Hello,

I also had the same problem and found this, I hope it will help for future coding. :)

Interesting case, if this is Laparoscopic. Then your looking at 50543: The physician performs a laparoscopic partial nephrectomy to treat small renal lesions or tumors.

If this is really Percutaneous, this leads me to think they have a nephrostomy tube already. Which would lead to 50562.

Note these rules here: If the nephrotomy or pyelotomy is done for an additional, significantly identifiable endoscopic service, report the appropriate endoscopic procedure code (5057050580) and 50045 or 50120. For open renal endoscopy (through nephrotomy or pyelotomy), with examination only, see 50570; ureteral catheterization, with or without dilation of the ureter, see 50572; biopsy, see 50574. For percutaneous renal endoscopic procedures (through established nephrostomy/pyelostomy), see 5055150562.

Hope this helps.
