Hello all,
We have been billing for Penuma Penile implants and removals with CPT 55899. However, we have had a couple of infected devices requiring removal, and were wondering if these possibly qualified for CPT 54415? The Code description says "removal of inflatable OR non-inflatable penile prosthesis, without replacement of prosthesis". I know this is generally used for penile implants like rods or penile pumps that are not the 3-piece, but I was wondering if it would apply here? While Penuma is not generally covered by insurance, it is considered a prosthesis. Anyone have any opinions or articles on this? Or should we keep using 55899 for removal?
Thank you,
Karen
