Hi. I am thoroughly confused and very new to the world Gastroenterology coding. I am trying to understand this but it's not going so well.

Can anyone help explain this to me and help me with the code(s)?

"Patient's existing PEG tube percutaneously pulled". The site was sterilized with Betadine. Gastroscopy tube size French 20 was introduced into existing ostomy and inflated...Anchors placed, patency checked. Patient tolerated well"

Are there CPT codes which are applicable to what was done? I'm reading it as the PEG was pulled out through the abdomen wall (ostomy), and then a different tube was inserted into the ostomy. No scope usage mentioned. Is it possible to bill for this?

Thank you all!

Beth

Take a look at code 43760: Change of gastrostomy tube, percutaneous, without imaging or endoscopic guidance. I think that will meet your needs. :)
