(We do the letter for shoes of course, but also one for foot care)
Does anyone's practice use what we call a "PCP nail letter"? We have a letter formatted reagrding our podiatrist's clinical findings to send to a patient's PCP after the pt is first seen. Basically stating "patient X was seen here today. After examination, I believe that your patient may qualify for coverage under Medicare guidelines. If your records are consistent with my findings please sign and return". This form would include the diagnosis and class findings, asking for a date last seen. We use this for the asterisked diagnoses, as well as for ones that medicare does't require active pcp care.
I know this isn't mandatory to have on file, but we believe it is best practice.
I was just wondering if anyone else does anything like this, or if you have other good practices you would like to share?
Thank you!
