Wiki Pathology & Laboratory Billing CLARIFICATION!

Can anyone clear something up for me please? I have several providers billing for Pathology and Laboratory billing differently and i've been looking for the rule on how they should be billed. for example: 88305 x 5 or should it be 88305 entered 5 times? they both seem to pay, but i want the ruling because i've been telling them they need to bill by units not individual lines. Thank you so much in advance!

You are correct; this code is supposed to be billed in units (88305 x 5 on one line).

BCBS of MS ask that we bill each unit on a separate line with the appropriate X modifier. All other payers have been accepting the units on 1 line. Check with your payer.
