Can someone clarify for me that shingles, tetanus and some travel immunizatins are no longer covered in office. Also that the shingles does not need a script for a patient to purchase?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks

Those vaccines are covered under Medicare D. Besides flu, pneumonia, and Hep B Part B will cover other immunizations only if you have been exposed to a dangerous virus or disease. For example, if you step on a rusty nail, Medicare will cover a tetanus shot; if you are bitten by a dog, Medicare will cover your rabies shots. In our office we give patients a script for the shingles vaccine only if they want to pick it up at the pharmacy and have us administer it. Hope that is helpful to you.

Thanks Donna.

So they will pay for a tetanus given in office for those specified encounters.... That was my next question

Thanks again
