Hi
SSummCCH,
The only resources I know of are completely offshore.
From our AAPC communications we have many Certified AAPC and AAPC-A coders looking for a position to make this new glimpse of hope from your post "their dream". I know you want someone to tend to Nebraska. I understand the constraints that you are faced with. We are in a coder shortage. You want probably great help; you seriously just ask for it. Why would only being with Cerner Community Works and SSI for one year matter? Your facility should be already randomly auditing those cases for no surprises, right? Why would this change? You state you need help, take the time to put an employee procedure manual together to get someone busy.
Post the position ~ does this position require to be in person and if so, indicate exactly why? We are no longer in an environment like 10 years ago that "I manage a Medical Facility Company and need an employee dilemma; (HMM ~no, we both know that no one is there ~ ghost town or "crickets") it is all about I need a coder and who can seriously help me. Someone new may be perfect fit for this very scenario. Be very cognizant on your interview questions and find your match, have a plan in place (the new coder manual ready), and also the timelines for success ready to be discussed with a new potential employee. (For example - at 6 weeks ~ be responsible for tending to this and that without direct supervision). Those that code cases really do appreciate those deadlines.
Again, I am not in charge of your healthcare facility, as SME (specialist medical expert in pathology now today 10 years later)
I really had that supervisor and mentor right out of the gate with my AAPC-A that pushed me to be the best of the best and I was so pumped and took on both pathology and anesthesia coding my very first year because I was seriously fearless.
I only wish you tons of success, I only offered alternatives that you may dismiss. My only objective was to "just reach deeper", you may find what you are looking for okay.
Thank you for listening this evening,
