Wiki Out of State Surgeries

Hello,

I have a patient who had an injury in Tennessee had surgery on her ankle and came home to PA and is following up with us. Not sure how to code this if anyone can help. I was told to:

- Call the doctor who did the surgery and get the Diagnosis and CPT code they used
- We code their Diagnosis Code and CPT code with LT or RT and Modifier 55

Is this correct information?

You will need to make sure they have a documented transfer of care and to make sure they billed with the correct modifier for interop/pre-op only
