Osteochondral repair first metatarsal head - 28104
A significant osteochondral defect was appreciated direct center and slightly plantar and medial to the first metatarsal head with
an overall area measuring 0.9 x 0.3 cm which was completely worn to the subchondral bone. Multiple areas of fibrillation were
also appreciated. With use of a #15 blade this entire area of nonviable cartilage was then removed. The area was then fenestrated
with an awl to encourage fibrocartilage growth.
Osteochondral repair base proximal phalanx of the great toe - 28108
A significant osteochondral defect was appreciated centered to the base of the proximal phalanx measuring 0.3 x 0.5 cm which
was completely worn to the subchondral bone. Multiple other areas of fibrillation were also appreciated and were then debrided
with sharp dissection with an overall area measuring 0.4 x 0.4 cm. This area was then fenestrated with an awl to encourage
fibrocartilage growth. The area was then flushed with copious amounts of sterile normal saline.
