Ortho provider does tx on 27236. Pt is IP. Hospitalist is covering for medical conditions. I should'nt 55 be used? Thanks in advance

If the hospitalist is seeing the patient for medical conditions that are not related to the ortho surgery, then no you do not need a modfier, but the dx codes used need to be different than the surgery dx codes. If the hospitalist is following up for the surgical condition you need to verify that a transfer of care has occurred.
