I have taken the Ortho Coding exam once and didn't pass. My doctor that I do coding for does not do back surgeries. Any suggestions how to study for them? I have done the practice excercise twice. I plan on doing it a few more times before I retake the exam in March. :(

I had the same problem my MD's do not work on spines. I did the orthopedic practicum that AAPC offers. It did go over some of the spinal information and it did help me. Otherwise I suggest studing the companion books and the spinal areas. The companion books have good info regarding what types of things go with each other. And if all else fails do the process of elimination on the spinal coding and don't over think it. :) good luck.

Thanks. I am looking at getting the companion books. I heard that they are pretty helpful. Hopefully all will go well when I re-take it in March.
